On the occasion of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Centre for Brain and Mind (CBM), NIMHANS, in collaboration with the Centre for Addiction Medicine, NIMHANS and the NIMHANS Centre for Wellbeing, invites you to Perspectives on Addiction, an interactive zine-making workshop that brings together diverse voices to rethink how we understand addiction.
Too often, conversations about addiction begin with substance use itself. This workshop asks a different question: what experiences shape vulnerability long before addiction begins? It also invites us to look beyond addiction to recognise the strengths, resilience, and humanity of individuals whose lives are often reduced to a diagnosis.
Through guided discussions, creative reflection, and collaborative zine-making, participants will explore these perspectives while contributing to a collective publication that captures diverse viewpoints on addiction and recovery.
We are especially keen to bring together participants from a range of backgrounds, including:
- Policymakers and government representatives
- Professionals from the social sector, NGOs, and community organisations
- Educators and school counsellors
- High school and college students
- Healthcare professionals and researchers
- People interested in mental health, public health, and social change
Date: Saturday, 4 July 2026
