Samvardhan Biodiversity & Conservation Fellowship: 12-month Fellowship co-curated by Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies & Dasra

Excited to share that RNP, in partnership with Dasra, has launched the Samvardhan Biodiversity & Conservation Fellowship.

About the fellowship:

The Samvardhan Biodiversity & Conservation Fellowship is a 12-month, cohort-based programme designed to support early-career conservation practitioners through a combination of flexible seed funding, mentorship, and peer learning. It aims to strengthen grassroots, place-based conservation work by investing in individuals and building a supportive ecosystem around them.

Many young passionate conservationists leave the field not because they lose interest, but because the system doesn’t support them. The Samvardhan Fellowship is here to change that.

What the fellowship offers:

  • A seed grant of ₹3 lakh for practice-led conservation work
  • Mentorship from conservation experts throughout the year
  • Peer learning through cohort sessions, knowledge workshops, and community building

Who can apply:

  • Early-career conservation researchers and practitioners under 35, engaged in public-interest conservation whether in research, fieldwork, or community work.
  • Applicants from diverse educational backgrounds, under-represented areas, and outside mainstream wildlife institutions are strongly encouraged. (Note: PhD students are not eligible)
